FeesUnderstanding Your Fees & RebatesA valid GP referral is required at all times during your specialist care in order for you to be entitled to Medicare/Health Fund rebates. Please see below for further information. scroll down |
We are not a bulk-billing clinic. We are a private orthopaedic surgery clinic and charge fees in line with the actual costs of running a private medical practice.
Accordingly, we are unable to accommodate discounts for concessional cardholders. Your GP can refer you to a public hospital outpatient orthopaedic clinic for fully subsidised (no cost) care. Our fees for surgery are informed by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and are updated annually.
Please see the AMA's infographic on medical gap fees.
Initial Fees & Follow Ups | Our fee policy for initial and follow-up specialist consultationsIf you are a public patient, you will still be required to pay the applicable private consultation fees at all our clinic locations. If you hold a Medicare card and have a valid GP referral, you will receive eligible rebates from Medicare back into your nominated bank account. Full payment of consultation fees is required on the day of your appointment. Please note that your private health insurance will not provide any reimbursement for consultations that were not part of an inpatient admission/treatment. For patients claiming a work-related injury, if you have a claim number and a pre-approved initial consultation with Dr Glezos, then we will send our invoice directly to the workers compensation insurer. If no claim has been submitted, you will need to pay for your consultation, and later claim reimbursement from the workers compensation insurer once liability has been accepted. For patients injured as a result of a motor vehicle/road traffic accident (CTP), you will be required to pay consultation fees on the day of your appointment and claim reimbursement from your insurer directly. For DVA Gold cardholders, you are entitled to fully subsidised treatment, including consultations. For DVA White cardholders, your care entitlements are conditional on your pre-approved/accepted conditions. You will be entitled to fully subsidised consultations for accepted conditions only. You will be responsible for any consultation fees relating to consultations that are not pre-approved by DVA. For overseas patients, please note that our practice will require all fees to be paid in full at the time of your consultation. You may claim reimbursement from your insurer directly (if applicable). Forms relating to insurance claims for reimbursement or loss of income can be completed by your family doctor. If you require Dr Glezos to complete these forms, please be aware that there will be a form-filling fee payable IN ADDITION to any consultation/surgery fees. Please note that Dr Glezos must always prioritise direct patient care first and as such, no assurances can be made as to the timing for completion. |
Surgery Fees | Our fee policy for surgeryIf you are a public patient and require surgery, you will have the option to be placed on Dr Glezos's Ryde Hospital public waiting list and receive fully subsidised surgery. Please note that Ryde Hospital is a teaching hospital and as such, doctors-in-training may perform some or all aspects of your surgery. Where possible, this will be under Dr Glezos's supervision. For public patients without private health insurance, or overseas patients (non-Medicare) requesting private self-funded surgery, you will receive an estimate of Dr Glezos's surgery fees prior to your procedure. Signed acceptance of the fee estimate is a requirement for proceeding to surgery, along with full prepayment of surgery fees 48-hours prior to your planned admission. |
Private Patients | For private patientsOur private surgical fees are in-line with the true costs of running a private medical practice and we are unable to participate in No Gap schemes in the private hospital system. Please note, Dr Glezos's fees for surgery are an estimate of surgeon fees only and DO NOT include hospital, anaesthetist, surgical assistant or other fees. For private patients undergoing elective surgery at a private hospital, you will receive an estimate of Dr Glezos's surgery fees prior to your procedure. Signed acceptance of the fee estimate is a requirement for proceeding to surgery, along with full prepayment of surgery fees 48-hours prior to your planned admission. For private patients undergoing emergency surgery at a private hospital out-of-hours or on weekends, it is not possible to provide an estimate of surgical fees in advance due to the unpredictable nature of emergency surgery, and the different rebates provided by different health funds and different levels of cover. We will however endeavour to provide you with your surgical invoice as soon as possible after surgery. Once surgical invoices are paid in full, our practice will electronically submit your claim to Medicare and your Health Fund who will then process your eligible rebates into your nominated bank account. |
